In 2010 Jason left Gordon Ramsay Holdings to begin his own venture, Jason Atherton Ltd. He opened his first restaurant Table No 1 at the Waterhouse in Shanghai, in May 2010. This was closely followed by the launch of Jason’s flagship restaurant Pollen Street Social in Mayfair which, within six months of opening, was awarded a coveted Michelin star and currently has five AA rosettes.
The following years saw the launch of tapas bar 22 Ships in Hong Kong, a second Mayfair restaurant in March 2013 with a Parisian style menu named Little Social, followed by Michelin Starred Soho restaurant Social Eating House. The Commune Social was next, then Berners Tavern in Autumn 2013. Mid December 2013 saw the opening of Ham & Sherry within the culinary haven of Wanchai District in Hong Kong. 2014 saw the launch of Michelin Starred City Social atop the 24th floor of Tower 42, with its 360 degree views across the City of London, named shortly after as London’s Best Restaurant by Square Meal. Following closely after was the opening of Aberdeen Street Social in Hong Kong.
2015 saw the opening of New York Edition partnership in Midtown in spring, Social Wine & Tapas in London and Marina Social in Dubai, a vibrant waterside restaurant and bar.
In January 2016, Jason launched Japanese izakaya- style restaurant, Sosharu. Summer saw the launch of The Pig & Palm in Cebu in the Philippines, then the launch of New York Italian-inspired Hai Cenato in February 2017, based in Victoria.
Jason’s restaurant, The Clocktower at the New York Edition hotel was awarded its first Michelin star in October 2018. The Square Meal Guide 2018, presented Pollen Street Social with the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ award, with City Social, Little Social, Social Eating House and Berners Tavern all making the ‘Top 100’ list.
