Imagine sipping your morning coffee whilst looking out onto a beautiful golden beach, with clear blue skies and the rhythm of the sea a gentle lullaby to your ears. In the distance, you can spot candy-coloured beach houses, hugging the promenade.
Doesn’t this sound like utter bliss? Well, our Portuguese tableware brand, Costa Nova, draws inspiration in their crockery designs from the place it is named after, so you can bring this Mediterranean look into your own home.
Costa Nova (the place) is a small fishing village that became a well-known holiday spot among Portuguese families. It is famous for its charming wooden beach houses, painted in colourful stripes (which you can see in Costa Nova’s logo!). The Portuguese flock to Costa Nova for the food and to embrace the Mediterranean lifestyle to its fullness.
Although we would love to hop on a plane and escape to this idyllic corner of Portugal, we know that isn’t very practical (but we will certainly be adding it to our travel list). For now, we are more than happy to admire their tableware designs and steal this Mediterranean look for our very own dining table.
You see, Costa Nova has been a chef favourite for years! You have probably spotted their tableware in restaurants around the world! We are absolutely delighted to finally introduce this brand to you.
Our favourite has got to be their Friso collection; it is simple, elegant and so versatile. Its hand-painted subtle groove really sets this plate apart from other stoneware brands and it looks fabulous when mix and matched with Friso grey. We tend to use Friso White as the main plate and mix in the Grey for Starters and Desserts. What a classic!
Another favourite is their Beja range. It is so stylish and contemporary, featuring a sleek deep blue rim that captures the architectural landscape of Beja and the nostalgic charm of old enamelled collections. It makes a great Spring/Summer option. When it comes to Al Fresco dining and vibrant salads, Beja is always top of our list! The salad bowl in the collection is so versatile, it can be used as a centre piece for sharing dishes or it could even make a beautiful fruit bowl or decorative piece.
Another best-seller is their Lagoa range and we can completely see why! Available in stunning metallic bronze or ivory, the colour and shapes of this collection are great for Asian-inspired dishes. We often use the metal Charger Plate for canapes or petit fours – it is always catches the eye and evokes conversation! It is fast becoming a dinner party stable!
